Hollywood: A Live Show Daily, November 15 2008 8 pm to midnight

Join us at The Factory for the opening reception of my photographic study Hollywood: A Live Show Daily.

It's a one-man show of my Hollywood theatre of the street series. The work displays the Hollywood behind the glitz and glamour - both the light and the dark sides of the real Hollywood.

Each time I visited Hollywood with an open mind searching for the face behind the mask of this fabled town. On Oscar's day I arrived to turn my eyes and my camera upon the spectators who were there in droves looking for Brangelina and hoping to get a glimpse the notorious Nicholson smile. But i didn't waste a moment looking for celebrity. Rather I photographed the Snake Man wrapping his Boa Constrictor around children for a tip. Turning around I spot Snoopy the dog and Barney the Dinosaur chatting in front of the Erotic Museum, no doubt comparing notes about their record-breaking day of business. Down the block, a Mexican woman is selling hot dogs in front of Frederick's of Hollywood and the lingerie-clad manikins seem to want a bite. Then, amazingly, it starts to rain and I notice actress-types in high-heeled, leather boots splashing around on the stars embedded in the Walk of Fame. In other words, a day of magic, if you are a photographer.

I experienced so many days of magic on and around Hollywood Boulevard. Fortunately, I have the memories ... and the photographs!

There will be refreshments served. All are welcome. Come and enjoy. And tell a friend. See you at:

Natalie and Daniel's Wedding

Natalie and Daniel got married at the St. Paul and St. Peter Church in Wilmington. What a church! Spectacular! They are a sweet couple and I am glad I had the opportunity to photograph their wedding! The reception was at Ports of Call in San Pedro with wonderful views of the harbor and bridge.

The Los Angeles River

I love Los Angeles and I have photographed three books on the city, so, I know the city well. But i had never explored the Los Angeles River. I know what you're thinking ... "Why would you explore the LA River? It's just a trickle of polluted water running down a concrete channel." Wrong.

Take a look at the photos I took on the inaugural Los Angeles River Tour offered by Urban Photo Adventures, www.urbanphotoadventures.com. It is run by two movie industry location managers: Mark Indig and Kenny Haber. They found many hidden treasures from the architecturally stunning Devil's Gate Dam, to graffiti-decorated homeless encampments, to a working boatyard on Terminal Island, and a trellis bridge crossing over the river that seems right out of a Mark Twain story. And the trip was well organized and fun, too.

Thanks for a great tour, Mark and Ken!
